Curse of Dunn's

Yesterday was a pretty good day. I already had told you guys that though. Christmas night wasn't so great. David, his two sisters Bekah and Colie, and then I went to see P.S. I Love You It was a good movie...but the emotional person I was cried through the whole thing. It's about a 29/30 year old dealing with her husband's death. Something I guess I couldn't handle. Anyway, the movie theater was packed so we had to park in the back parking lot...far away. But we have never had a problem ever before at these theaters. So, we locked the door and went along our way. We had fandagoed the tickets and were able to go right in. We left the theater and was walking to our cars (Colie and Bekah in one because they had met us at the theaters) and David and I to our cars. I opened my door and looked straight at the floor which I always do because I try to be careful getting into the car. I notice something black that looks like it should be with the radio. I think...hmmm, that wasn't in that place when we left the car and then I look up and I see a dashboard hanging on for its life by wires and I think to myself that definanetly wasn't how we left it. Someone had stuck a hanger or something in and unlocked our car and took out our new radio we had gotten with David's re-enlistment money...and it was our Christmas present to each other. (It was an expensive radio). I will have a picture later, Colie took one...I just don't have it right now. We filed a report with the theater and had the security guard take pictures. I don't know now competent the guy was because he said on the paper we were from North Dakota and not North Carolina ... it's written out on the stupid license plate! But because no one was injured the Sheriff's dept won't even come out to see the car. So we drove home (this being almost 2 hours after we had already gotten out of the movie) and got a little sleep.
This morning, Dec 26, we first went and got David a haircut because it wasn't up to regulations and he was a little worried about it and then we went to the Sheriff's dept and filed a claim. Then our insurance company told us to go to a certain dealership to get an estimate. We took the car their and told the insurance company that it was unsafe to drive the car because the airbag system was cut and that the dashboard was just hanging on by wires. Well the insurance company made us a car rental reservation. A couple of hours later the dealership called us to tell us the estimate...over $4700.00! Isn't that outragous! I've never heard anything so crazy, but I guess I can believe it with them have to most likely replace the airbags and then also the dashboard and the harnesses...It's going to be a mircle if we can leave by next friday...a week later. But, thankfully we don't have to check in until the 14th of Jan but we wanted to get to Albuquerque to get adjusted and get a house and everything figured out on the 8th. Oh well, we can wish for the best. So, I hope everyone else's Christmas was better also and safer!
Oh and another crazy thing, my in-laws house that we are staying at was robbed less than 2 weeks ago also. It must be the curse against the Dunn's! Hopefully nothing else bad happens!

Christmas

Well, it's christmas day and I'm in California with David's family. It has been a good trip so far. We haven't done much which is always ok with me. I did get my nails and toes done yesterday..always lots of fun. On Thursday David and i are going to Modesto to see my granpa, I'm really excited for that. Then on Friday we are going shopping! I love to shop! Then Saturday we have a wedding to go to. So, we will be busy for a little bit. On Sunday we are leaving to go back to Vegas. I'm excited to see my parents again, we weren't in Vegas for very long last time (3 days) and well I hadn't seen my parents before that since March.
Merry Christmas everyone and I hope everyone has a safe and fun day!

A Book of Mormon Christmas Story

Monday night David and I went to family home evening with my parents. They have FHE in a big group of about 8 people and they take turns giving the lesson every week. It's really cool to my opinion. Anyway, a lady gave the fhe lesson about the christmas story but not the traditional story from the bible but from the book of mormon. Anyway, for anyone who wanted it who reads this I wanted to give the scripture references incase anyone wanted to have them.
1 Nephi 10:4
2 Nephi 25:19
2 Nephi 17:14
1 Nephi 11:18
2 Nephi 19:6
2 Nephi 26:3
Mosiah 3:5-8
Helaman 14:1-7
3 Nephi 1:4-21
3 Nephi 9:1 & 14-22
3 Nephi 11:1-3 & 6-11
2 Nephi 25:26
Moroni 10:32-33
David and I plan on making this a family tradition. We really liked it. Anyway, we are off to the strip to see the lights and have yummy treats...I know, you all are so jealous!

Change of Plans

Well, we have FINALLY made it to a destination...just not the original destination. We were planning on getting to Oklahoma City on Friday and staying until Sunday and then driving up to Denver for a week and then over to Sacramento for Christmas. Well, due to all the storms we are in Vegas right now. I am at my parents new house and I LOVE it. The dogs are having tons of fun and running around...a lot bigger than my old house. So, we took the 20 all the way across till it ended in Texas and then we caught the 10 and took it up to Blythe, CA and then we caught the US 95 and took it up to Vegas. 2600 miles later and we are exhausted. We got into Vegas at 1230am Sunday morning but we left about 500am their time on Saturday, so it was a really really really long drive. The dogs slept most of the way but because of that they were really hyper when they got into town. Not always a good thing. But for now it's time for me to go relax a little bit more...I'm still exhausted!

Leavin'

Think of the tune "Leavin on a jet plane...don't know when I'll be back again" Except it's: I'm Leavin in a truck...don't know when I'll get to sleep again! So, instead of studying...once again...which I tried for about a half hour...I got on the internet while David is shampooing the carpets and I'm writing a blog. It's our last night in town and I can't believe it's here already. I'm so stressed out...which is pretty normal since I still need to take 3 finals tomorrow and then we are driving 22 hours. It's going to be a super long day/night. tonight was fun though, David and I went to Mike's farm with Liz's work and then we did the lights and then we went to Walmart. It's crazy to think of how I don't know when and if I will ever see all of my friends again. I'm surely going to miss them. As much as I dislike Jacksonville, I'm going to really miss it. But I'm excited to move on and make new friends and see my friends that I have along the way later on in life and still having great chats. That's what I do like about moving. I mean on Friday I'm going to be seeing some of our friends that we haven't seen in 3 years and a year and a half ago I saw a freind I hadn't seen in a year and a half. So, it's really cool being able to see friends and keep in contact.

Empty

My house is now EMPTY. It feels really crazy to be in the house with just a blow up mattress and a few clothes. This day came so fast and now I really can't believe I'm moving on THURSDAY! The time went really really fast since we got the orders. But, I'm excited to be leaving and it'll be a new place with new changes.
Yesterday was my birthday, but we celebrated it on Saturday because we knew we were going to be busy on Sunday with getting the house ready and also because we didn't want to break the Sabbath...which we ended up doing trying to get things ready for the house. But we went out to dinner at Outback (yummy!) and then we went bowling and we watched a movie. It was great! Doing something nice and simple is just perfect. Anyway, I need to do some studying, I have finals on Wed and Thursday and one more day of classes. I still can't believe it's December...where did 2007 go?

I already made the appt and everything! Yay for her! Only 9 days until I move. CRAZY!

Cub Scouts

Last night was my last pack meeting for being the assistant cub master in our ward. I'm gonna miss the boys and it was kinda sad. I'm still super excited to move but it was a ton of fun and I learned so much. Actually when I went into it I didn't know a thing! We got to go on field trips, have weekly activities, day camp, and so much more! I feel so blessed to have had this calling and to learn so much about something I had no idea about. I am also going to miss my cub master Lisa. She and also Elizabeth when she was the cub master where such good teachers for me and I learned so much from them. And they always made it tons of fun and care so much about the boys.
Only 1 more full week of school, two days the week after that, two days of finals, and then I move! I'm so not ready. The house is no where being ready to be packed out by the movers, I have so much to clean still, and I also have to study! AH! Overwhelmed feeling set in the day after thanksgiving, but, it always works out! I'm just thankful I don't have to pack everything up myself. I just feel so ready for a vacation, although it will be a super long one, which is always fun! I can't wait to see friends and family.

Marine Corp Ball Weekend

This past weekend on the 17th of Novemer we celebrated the USMarine Corp Birthday at the Sheraton in Atlantic Beach. We had a lot of fun eating good yummy steak and dancing and a really good guest speaker. This picture right here is of us sitting at our table before the ceremony started. Everyone was completely obliterated with alcohol. It was really sad because 8 oz of soda with lots and lots of ice was $3.75 but beer was free. I was upset about that but only that really. We just drank water. It was free which was extra good.

We stayed at the Sheraton that night, which was suppose to be tons of fun, but I had been battling the flu for a day by then. After we had danced for a little bit we went upstairs and changed and went to the grocery store around the corner for some OJ. Thankfully, it was warm enough for us to sleep with the balacony open in our room so we could listen to the ocean as we slept and we were able to wake up to the ocean. It was awesome!

This is a view from one of our two balaconys. By morning I was feeling better and enjoyed looking outside and it wasn't as windy.

Before we went to the ball we went to Fort Knolls Aquarium which was way cool. We were able to even go on a nature walk. We petted stingray fish and horseshoe crabs. We saw a shipwreck which is also the largest aquarium in NC which had sharks, way cool fishes, and lots of other things. Overall, I felt like I learned a lot and even used what I learned to help me with my biology homework that was due on Monday. This next picture is of walking into the aquarium which is a waterfall. It was pretty cool.

Overall, the weekend was a lot of fun and I had taken enough cold medicine to make it tons of fun, until it was bedtime. When we get our professional pictures back from the ball, I will post a much better picture of us.

Long Weekend

This past weekend was a long weekend because I didn't have school on Monday! It was a very joyous occasion not to be up at 5:15am to take David to work! This weekend we started the cleaning process in the house for the move. Which in other words means the house is in demolition mode. We have pictures down, boxes in the front room filled with books, and Davids deployment gear in the spare bedroom. It's crazy and a hazard to walk around right now...at least that's how I feel.
Sunday was a good day, we went to church and David and I both helped out in primary and the primary also had their program this week. I love the primary program...it makes me happy :-). Then we went up to Camp Gieger with the missionaries and we had one marine come to the church and so we held sacrament meeting. The missionaries didn't have anyone to feed them so they came back to our house and ate...it's a good thing we had some food in the house.
Monday was preperation day for the missionaries and it was veterans day so I didn't have any school! We took the missionaries bowling up on base for their free time. The bowling alley up on base just re-opened with brand new lanes and everything. It was so much fun. I bowled my first ever turkey (the last frame of the last game) and I broke 100 for the first time! That night David and I went out walking/jogging. I'm trying to get myself into shape to be able to run a 5k when I get to Albuquerque so I'm trying to start now. I found a program online that gets you ready in 10 weeks so it's still going to be a little bit longer after I get to Albuquerque, but I'm so excited.
Monday night I was thinking. I commented on my friends page about what an awesome job she is doing on going to the gym and losing weight and I was telling her in the comment that I can't wait to get to Albuquerque to start losing weight again. But then I got to thinking, why am I waiting for another 2 months. So I signed up for weight watchers last night online. I'm way excited and am so glad to be back on it. David also signed up to be supportive (even though he doesn't need to lose weight) and we are glad we are doing it. We are a little nervous about driving across the united states while dieting but I just told David that we can either pack a cooler in with us or we can eat a lot of subway or not eat at all. I think we are doing the cooler or the subway thingy, I'm just happy to start losing weight again.

Update

Well, I haven't written in a while so I figured I would update. Nothing is really up, just busy with school and working around the house and everything. So, yeah...that's my update!

Friday, November 2

New Hair!

Today I got a new haircut and I love it! I also died it almost black. I know the picture isn't great, but it's from the camera built into my laptop. David help me pick out the hair cut and if I should get bangs and everything. We also got my chi tonight...man was I spoiled!

Thursday, November 1

YAY

Yay, for David and I. I was sitting on the couch this morning after taking David to work checking our bank account to make sure we got paid. I always make sure on paydays. Well I haven't been feeling well the past day or two due to lovely cramps and I had to do a double take at our bank account. We got David's re-enlistment bonus and it was a lot more in our bank account than I was expecting because I wasn't expecting our bonus yet. But, it healed my cramps for the day! YAY for me! Anyway, that's the CHI I get now, I can't wait. I might choose a different color, but I'm way, way, way excited! Anyway, only 42 days until we move....can't believe it, it's coming on so fast!

Wednesday, October 24

Treadmill

David and I bought me a treadmill this past Monday for a super early birthday present. We then went bowling up on base and then came home and assembled the new Horizon T700 treadmill. Well, it's a bust. It doesn't even work! i'm so mad! We are going to return it probably tomorrow, but we are so mad! I was looking forward to starting to work out again, but I guesse it's going to have to wait. Anyway, nothing else is up right now except being stressed out about moving. I have to get a kennel for the dogs while in Albaquerque before we are in the house. I never realized how much it costs, but it's ok. Anyway, lots and lots of homework to do before I have my pack meeting.

Duart Castle

Our Castle
Originally uploaded by The Dunns
From Jan 2004 to Dec 2004 I was privileged to live in England with my sister and her husband who was stationed their. During June of 2004 my oldest sister Donna came to visit Jeni and I. While she was their we were able to go to Duart Castle which is the MacLean castle. My maiden name is McLean, so it's my castle. It's been in a couple of movies, one that was british and I don't remember the name and the other one is Entrapment. Well, the movie for christmad that I can't wait to watch is The Water Horse. It has my castle in the movie also! http://www.sonypictures.com/movies/thewaterhorse/ is where you can watch the trailer and looks like a good family movie.
Today was Sunday and David had to work, which isn't normal, but every once in a while he has to work. So, we ended up missing church because he was suppose to get off at one and so I just had him take the truck but really he didn't get off until 3:30pm. So we just went to the Camp Gieger service that he holds...and he went in cammies. So cool. I wish I could go in cammies and not a dress. But I guess it's ok to where a dress, I look good when I wear dresses. :-D

But Stella had to go to the bathroom really badly but I forsure wasn't going to let her go in the house. So I let her outside, right after the rain, and was planning on letting her in right away, but someone called so I needed to take the phone call. Well, ten minutes later and you see the results on the side. Cleaning her up wasn't so much fun. But I made sure I took the pictures because I knew they would be funny later.

Well, it's official, we're in the military for another five years! I'm excited but I'm not at the same time. I never thought I was going to be a marine wife, but I don't mind it. I just hate when David deploys and things like that. But supposedly he won't be deploying at his next duty station, so that's a huge plus. But, I love my husband and he's planning on staying in for a career, so, the fun will not end soon.

I don't know

Well, as much as I love dress blues I don't enjoy spending three hours at the uniform shop. But on November 2 it will be worth it when we have 2 new tops and 3 new trousers...for free! Also, David is re-enlisting tomorrow. YAY for us we are lifers for sure now. But you know,
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
He is the best so it's very worth it. I get to skip school tomorrow so I get to see him re-enlist and just enjoy the day. Will try and take lots of pictures but I forgot the camera for the family fun day which wasn't so fun. But we got a free dinner which is always nice. Well even though I don't have to go to school tomorrow I have a lab report and more homework to do tonight and make dinner before cub scouts. So, unti next time....

Dress Blues

With Davids new orders we have to get him 2 new sets of dressblues. Does anyone have any idea how much that cost? Let me tell you 1. It's a lot and 2. the average amount is around$300 to $400. Thankfully because we have the orders and he's doing I&I duty we get them for FREE! So anyway, today after school I picked David up and we went up to mainside...since he works on the air station and had some lunch. We then went over to the uniform shop and we had the whole form filled out but for some reason they said it wasn't correct. So we went over to TMO (the moving people that we go through with the military) and picked up some papers we need for our upcoming move. I then took David back to work to re-fill out the form but he was told he has to go to a brief so I then went home and now I have to wait for David to call me back to pick him up...again and take him to the uniform shop...again. Oh well....new dress blues....totally worth it!

My house is pretty clean, so I don't have to work on it right now, and I just plan on working on my cross stitch. Later on today I'm going to Davids Family Fun Day at the marina for work. I must take pictures since this will probably be our last one other than the ball for the squadron. The temp is finally going down. It's 61 degrees F right now but wil get warmer up the low 70's. I just love it. I love wearing sweaters and putting on boots and wearing warm hats. it's the time for the trees to change colors. This is mainly the only time I'm ever homesick. The trees just don't change like it did in Indiana. The picture is what I'm talking about!
Yesterday I made a reservation at a hotel for the night of the Marine Corp Birthday Ball. We are staying at the Sheraton in a jacuzzi sweet with 2 privat balconies. I can't wait! It's also to celebrate our 3 year anniversary! Our anniversary will be 9 days later which is also on a Monday after Thanksgiving break during the school season. That's why we will be celebrating that night. Also it makes it nice then for the ball to get ready at the hotel and just coming and going as needed. I already have the dogs taken care of and life is good. Thank goodness for Elizabeth! Anyway....not much more has happened...until next time!

So Sick

Today David and I were driving up to check him in to work when he told me he wasn't feeling well. He had already told me that once before today, but he says he doesn't feel well all the time. So we are driving (I'm driving actually) and David's in the passengar seat when he says "pull over now" so I pull into the Marina cafe parking lot when David jumps out of the truck and starts throwing up...a lot. I feel so bad that I just thought he didn't feel well but I had no idea how bad he felt. So now he's at home in bed....not checked into work with his sprite in his drink. I hope he is feeling better soon.

Giraffes are more Human

I had do idea that giraffes hold grudges just like humans and they duke it out. It's somewhat amusing and somewhat sad that we can't figure out better ways as humans to fix things other than by fighting.

Well, we have been treating them for fleas all summer and it's a never ending battle. It's been awful. Anyway, last night we were giving them yet another flea bath (as usual) when the shower head just fell off! I know I talked about it yesterday, but I still just think it's hilarious! Anyway, those are my two beatiful dogs.

Moving!

David got his orders...finally for Abulquerque. We weren't sure if we were going to move or not. We are super excited and are taking a long 30 days of leave along with it. We will be spending Christmas with his family and new years with my parents. We will see more family and friends along the way and look forward to a new start. We are sad to leave NC, as much as we dislike our town we are going to miss the company (friends) and the ocean. But on to new and bigger things.
Yesterday I also bought my ball dress for the Marine Corp Birthday. It's black with sparkles all over it! It's spaghetti strap, but I already have a good coverup but am going to look for a little more classier one. But the best part was that I got it at Ross and it was only $25! That is my cheapest formal dress ever! I'm super excited about that.
Today, we washed the dogs in the bathtub and funny enough the shower head just fell off! It wouldn't re-attach or anything so I went out and bought a new one. I bought a double shower head...I'm super excited for it! I can't wait to take my shower in the morning. So, for my random note of ending, I'm going to bed now!

Sad

I'm sad today because one of my good friends is leaving next week for 3 months and I don't know the next time I will see her. It makes me sad because I feel we have become good friends. Anyway, yesterday, I made it to school. I was sitting in my biology classroom doing some homework that I hadn't finishe yet when David calls me. So I go out in the hallway and he has forgotten his boots for class. Nice me left school and took them to him, so I didn't go to school yesterday! It's always fun to skip every once in a while....just not a lot because they add up and then I will be kickedout of the class! Isn't that insane.
Right now I 'm pretty angry with one of our roommates. i can't wait for them to move ou next week! Anyway, the girl hasn't paid her rent in a month! I talked to her about a couple of days ago and was like, tlak to my husband. Hello, he told me you were in charge of your portion...IDIOT! Nothing much is really going on right now. I just can't sleep (which happens on weekends and Idon'tknow why) so that's why I am up. Oh well! Anyway, I don't have much else to say so peace out everyone!

Week One

Today, I finished the last day for this week! Thank goodness, this is going to be a stressful semester. I'm exhausted and it's only been 3 days! What's going on with me? I hate getting up early so I don't know why I am taking 8 am classes (other than trying to get a parttime job). I guess it's a good thing I don't have a job so I can fully focus on school, the house, and David. I need to spend time with him, and not at a job, so we can keep our relationship fun and exciting. If we never saw each other, life would be miserable. That's why I'm glad I don't have a job.
Today, my dog and pup are going to petsmart to get baths and flea things done. I'm also have a professional come in and de-flea the house I can't handle the fleas and it's not fair to my babies! Which, actually, it's time to go take them in!

Wednesday, August 15

First day of Fall Semester!

Today was the first day of my fall semester. Man, I'm going to be so tired! I'm taking 17 credits and Wednesdays are my long days. I have class from 8am to 2pm. I also then have cub scouts that night. It was crazy tonight at scouts too. We had our pack meeting for the summer and we actually finished ON TIME! That is such an amazing thing for us to do. We also had a cake bake and had lots of different cakes....yummy! Tomorrow I have only 3 hours of classes, then it's off to the gym, my hometeachers are coming, and i have to get and drop stuff off for scouts and make dinner! Life is so good! My dog and puppy are doing well. Did I mention that we got a new puppy! She's so cute but likes to get into everything. Potty training is such a terror also, but it's getting better everyday. Anyway, I'm getting really tired (and it's only 10 at night!). But I have another early day tomorrow because I have to do some more stuff online for my online class.

Tuesday, August 14

Been Busy

I'm sorry, I've been very busy lately with finals and then taking a break and working around the house and such. I've also been busy with cub scouts. Right now is a hard time for me. It's my parents 40th anniversary this week and my whole family is getting together except for me. I'm very jealous. I want to see my family. I need out of this town. I'm going crazy.
Some of my wish may come true. David has asked for orders to Sacramento CA. Hopefully we get them. i really, really, really want them so bad! I hate NC with a passion. I want to be much closer to family.

Wednesday, July 11

Busy

Well, I have been busy lately and that is why I haven't posted in a week. I have been going to school, which is always fun. I started my period this weekend so I felt pretty sick all weekend. I never feel good when I'm on my period. My husband was also sick this weekend, so it was a hard weekend for us. We saw Transformers this past week and also License to Wed. I loved Transformers. I thought it was such a great movie. License to Wed was ok, but very funy. I'm starting to get hungry, it's 730am and I have been up since 6am. I'm trying to stay up after I take David to work from now so I will be able to go to sleep with him at night instead of not being able to sleep. Also, when it's time for next semester, I will be starting school at 8am, so I'm trying to train my body not to be so tired in the morning.
I have been frustrated lately. David had a test done and was told he was impotent meaning he will not be able to have children. Now, we still need to see a urologist, but he started making punts about it last night and I'm still very emotional about it and I just can't handle that. We are having lots of rough times right now, but we are trying hard to work through it. We love each other, it's just hard with David leaving all the time. It makes me not to want him in and help me at all. I'm very parinoid and have a very hard time letting David in to help me with different things. But we are working on it. We love each other and everything will work out!

Wednesday, July 4

4th of July!

Happy 4th of July everyone! I hope everyone has good and fun plans. Last night I made a cake for today. Today I cut up a watermelon and made devilled eggs. We are also bb-qing hamburgers and hotdogs. David invited a couple of co-workers over. It should be fun. I'm just glad to have the day off from school. Yesterday, I hurt myself in my fit for life class. I don't know if it was because of my bad form in running or if it was because I jumped really bad trying to cath the football, but I really hurt my back. I don't know if we are going to go see fireworks tonight because of my back. But if we do we are going out to the beach to watch the fireworks. It's so much fun watching them on the beach. They reflect off the ocean water...so awesome! Anyway, I should finish getting ready for today. I wish everyone a happy independence day!

Today

Well, I'm still not ready to tell anyone what our news is just yet. We have more things we need to talk about before I talk on that note. Today though is going to be a good day. My husband and I went grocery shopping. Then we went and got his hair cut, and now we are watching Mistress of the Spices. Tonight we are seeing a free early showing of Transformers up on our military base, so we are super excited. Anyway, that is all for now.

Not A Great Day

So, today wasn't the best day of my life....by far! I don't feel comfortable at this time telling people why, but one of my dreams from childhood was shattered into lots of little pieces today. I don't know how I feel at this moment, but I know the next couple of years are going to be rocky for my husband and I as we try different things out. But, thankfully, we love each other and it will end up okay. He's a great person and a great rock in my life. I shouldn't say every piece was shattered because we can hopefully always find another way to make that dream come true.

Life

Hi, I'm Krissie. I'm married to a US Marine and stationed in North Carolina. We will be married 3 years this next November. I'm going to school full time currently. I have one dog and no children at this time. We are renting a house and have a roommate. She's engaged to a marine also and was one once. I am an assistant cubmaster for a boy scout troop. I am the youngest in my family of 7 children. My parents just moved to a new location and is loving it. My family is scattered about the nation and it's always so much fun when we get together.
Today, I had a job interview to work at the base theater where my husband works. I was going to accept it but it was only going to be 15 hours a week and paid very little. David and I figured it out and not spending the weekends together, and how little money I would be making, it wouldn't be worth it. So, I took it and then called her back later today and told her I couldn't take it. Anyway, enough for today....tomorrow I shall write some more!
